The children celebrated the winter solstice with a lantern festival. During their kinder sessions, the children decorated paper lanterns to carry with them on their lantern walk.
On the night of the lantern festival, we had a wonderful celebration with many families from the kinder community joining in and bringing food for everyone to share.
After our dinner, the groups took it in turns to go on their lantern walk down Pier Street to the park. What a wonderful sight it was! Lots of excited children proudly carrying their glowing lanterns along the street for everyone to see. Once we arrived at the park, the children were thrilled to see the coloured projections displayed in the trees.
Upon returning to the hall, another exciting activity was waiting with an African drummer ready to sing and dance with the children and teach them how to play the drums. Everyone got involved, even the parents, singing and dancing along to the music!
